Promotional Flyer Time!
A popular song played repeatedly on the Underground Network radio, The Song of Dear Dead Daphne (re-released as Sweet Necrophiliac’s Sweetheart) made the Top 10 in 1989 and was written and performed by the lead singer of the popular banshee band, Crowblack.
Lead singer River O’Dare says that she was inspired by a ballad of the same name penned anonymously around 1763. It has been covered three times since then.
The first cover was a rock version in 1994 by Scottish Widows, followed by an acoustic version in 1999 by the one-hit wonder Jeni A. Most recently, an upbeat pop version has been released by the vampire girl band Lady Killerz.
This version is released on the new album ‘Crowblack’s Greatest Hits’ , which is available to buy only from Uncharted Vinyls on Boxley Road, but if you head down to the Snake and Feather pub on Regan Street, you may be able to take advantage of their promotion (for a limited time only!).

Sweet Necrophiliac’s Sweetheart
Official Lyrics
VERSE 1
The darkness hides me; I’m all alone
There’s no one to find me and there’s no way home
I pretend I’m a dancer and the birds are my band
I cry at the lie but there’s no friendly hand
To dry my tears…
CHORUS
And I’m tired of being on my own all the time,
It gets lonely when there’s only
A tomb to call mine
I want to be with someone, wouldn’t mind if it’s you –
I want to be a sweet necrophiliac’s sweetheart,
Want to feel a warm embrace again,
Sweet necrophiliac’s sweetheart,
Keep me safe from the rain…
Safe from the pain –
VERSE 2
I walk through a churchyard, the crows fly around,
They tear me up in pieces but I won’t lie down,
I dream their feathers warm my fingers,
I dream their beaks draw my blood;
But nothing could…
CHORUS
And I’m tired of being on my own all the time,
It gets lonely when there’s only
A tomb to call mine
I want to be with someone, wouldn’t mind if it’s you –
I want to be a sweet necrophiliac’s sweetheart,
Want to feel a warm embrace again,
Sweet necrophiliac’s sweetheart,
Keep me safe from the rain…
Safe from the pain –
BRIDGE
Candle, book and big black bell
Make you mine in the midnight spell
Owls screech loud and the thunder rolls
And the bell tolls my death knell –
CHORUS
And I’m tired of being on my own all the time,
It gets lonely when there’s only
A tomb to call mine
I want to be with someone, wouldn’t mind if it’s you –
I want to be a sweet necrophiliac’s sweetheart,
Want to feel a warm embrace again,
Sweet necrophiliac’s sweetheart,
Keep me safe from the rain…
Make me a sweet necrophiliac’s sweetheart
Make me feel a warm embrace again,
Sweet necrophiliac’s sweetheart,
With you I wouldn’t fear the rain
Sweet necrophiliac’s sweetheart
All I want is a warm embrace again
Sweet necrophiliac’s sweetheart
Fan the flame, the flame, the flame
Keep me safe from the rain
